6. Is it important to have an avatar?

We think so. Avatars in the form of a snapshot or graphic add identity and “ownership” to articles and comments. They also provide a clearer, more vivid sense of audience for writers and readers. Furthermore, we believe they’ll facilitate community building and networking as well as enhance the look and feel of ETCJ. We hope you’ll take the time to set up an avatar. The steps, described below, are quick and simple.

7. How can I get an avatar?

To get an avatar for use in ETCJ and other WordPress sites: (1) sign up for a WordPress account if you don’t already have one, (2) go to your personal profile, and (3) upload your avatar. You can change it whenever you want. It’s free.

8. Can I cite information from this blog?

Yes, articles, in part or in full, may be reproduced and distributed for educational purposes as long as the standard bibliographic attributions are included.

9. Is there an RSS feed feature?

Yes, it’s in the upper left corner of the page. To take advantage of this feature, you’ll need an RSS reader. I use Google Reader. Once my account was set up, I clicked on both of the RSS feeds in ETCJ:

After the feed was selected, I chose Google Reader from the list of feed destinations. To read the feeds, I log in to my Google Reader account to review the latest posts and comments in ETCJ and other selected sites.

10. Why is there a delay before my comment is published?

All comments are reviewed by the administrator prior to posting. However, the delay shouldn’t be more than 12 hours. If your comment isn’t posted after 24 hours, please contact the administrator at jamess@hawaii.edu.

11. How can I send a personal message to an author?

Click on the author’s byline or the “Staff” tab at the top of the page for contact information.

14. Is there a way to enlarge my view of the ETCJ page?
